It kept its importance also in Late Antique Period and hosted 1st and 7th Councils which some important decisions were taken for Christianity. In the ancient necropolis which is located out of city walls, there are many graves which were dated from Hellenistic Period until Late Antique Era. Although there are many graves from Late Antiquity in the necropolis, they haven?t been researched systematicaly until today. The majority of these graves were discovered during road construction. The paintings found in Elbeyli Hypogeum and in Bahçeboğazı Graves consists the subject of this thesis. While the paintings of Elbeyli Hypogeum have the characteristics of Early Christian Art, Bahçeboğazı Graves have wall paintings which also show the characteristics of IV. century A.D.
