Abstract:Panic disorder is a serious disorder characterised by panic attacks in which anxiety is accompanied by cognitive factors and physiological reactions .Panic disorder patients have cognitions about cognitive, physiological catastrophes that distinguish them from people without panic disorder. Panic disorder patients have dysfunctional metacognitions compared to healthy people. Study sample consisted of those volunteering to participate among patients appliying to Uludag University Psychiatry Department.Ppanic disorder severity,body sensations, avoidance and escape behaviours,kognitif and metacognitive change was assessed through assesment tools. Instruments were administered the same day pharmacotherapy was prescribed and treatment began , one month after the treatment began and after second month when they came for regular check-up. Study results show that, without any cognitive intervention, body sensations, panic disorder severity, avoidance and escape behaviours, cognitions and metacognitions showed significant change during three assesment periods.
