Abstract:

Extraordinary natural beings impress people in many kinds. Specially earthquakes, which is the most important of the natural disasters, costs countless loose of life and wealth according to the movement of the ground crust at the places where sysmical activities were happened regularly. Turkey is a leading country where natural disasters happened usually; mostly earthquakes, landslides, floods, avalanche and rock falls, fires and erosions because of its geological, topoghraphic and climate features. It is so important to learn living with earthquakes and avoid of the looses of earthquake disaster in minimum by the citizens, thats why the lands of our country are in the earthquake zone. For that reason specially by evaluating the existed earthquake disasters, seismic attitudes of the houses must be carefully examined which threats the life of the citizens living there. In the thesis study, according to these conditions, specially the former earthquakes happened in our country and the structural damages existed on the houses were examined and the information wanted to be given that earthquake attributes must be noticed while making the architectural designs of the dwellings. On this way to examine earthquake attributes and damage types on different houses the bearing system materials were classified. Variety of design criterions were selected and a method to follow different suggestions were given to decrease the construction failures and to built the earthquake safety houses.
