Abstract:

Architecture is the product that contains a period or social dynamism in the most visible way, but traces of this dynamism cannot be easily applied. In the examinations of Sinan architecture, which constitutes the most advanced examples of classical period Ottoman architecture, this relationship is revealed only in general lines. In recent years, Sinan's design approach has been studied by many researchers and ıt has been determined that the architectural design understanding of Sinan is based on structural and structural constructions, away from ornament. Whether the heuristic and intellectual criticism reached within the framework of the social, cultural, religious and political contexts of the period can be measured with numerical data will be taken and the fractal analysis method will be applied as an auxiliary measurement tool. Fractal analysis, which is a method used to analyze the complexity of the surface, can be applied in architecture from the urban scale to the smallest part of a building. With the fractal analysis method to be used in the study, the buildings will be read in multiple layers: form, ornament and material. The structure of the study, in the context of the fractal dimension, numerical data obtained by analyzing thirteen different mosques belonging to Sinan's architecture on their architectural facades will generate, discussed over the architecture of Sinan; comparison with design concepts such as scale, aesthetics, functionality and simplicity. The analysis of Sinan structures, which are analyzed independently and belong to different periods, in the context of periodic differences, is another dimension of the study. As a result, the architectural changes that Sinan's architecture has undergone over the years will be tried to be discussed by using the fractal analysis method.
