Discontinuos and discrete groups have significant place in the theory of automorphic functions. The concept of fundamental region has importance for the discontinuos and discrete groups. In this work, the relations between discontinuos groups, discrete groups and fundamental regions are studied. At the introduction, some important ideas are briefly described. In the first chapter, basic notions which are necessary in the second and third chapters are given. First of all, definitions and fundamental properties of general topological groups and discrete groups are recalled. Then linear transformations are introduced and their fundamental properties are given. Fundamental ideas which are necessary to study fundamental regions of discrete groups are given in the section concerned with hyperbolic geomety. In the second chapter, discontinuos and discrete groups are introduced, and then the relations between these groups are discussed. In the third chapter, the concept of a fundamental region which forms the basis of this study is considered. Firstly the concept of a fundamental region and some examples of it are given for the general discontinuos groups. Then this discussion is done for PSL(2, R). Lastly, computation of hyperbolic area of the fundamental region is given.
