Abstract:It draws attention to how disabled individuals can use and interact with these websites after intensely spreading on websites around the world. The main purpose of this study is to reveal the web accessibility of the the state institutions in Turkey and to compare the web accessibility ratio among the geographical regions with the data obtained from online scanning programs and the data received from the applications performed with direct visually impaired users. The accessibility of websites was analyzed using the Web Content Accessibility Guide (WCAG) 2.0. AChecker and Wave tools were used to analyze the accessibility of these websites. As a result of the analysis results of these web sites, it was found that there were many accessibility issues related to WCAG 2.0 violations, Achecker detected 2.5 times more accessibility errors than Wave tool and the most problem was in Perceptibility principle. The authorities in Turkey, managers and developers, to ensure equal access to all citizens, improving the accessibility of websites belonging to government agencies need to stay more on the subject.
