In this study, firstly a specific hydraulic press brake based test setup (HPBTS) with image processing systems was designed and manufactured which is able to determine the bending forces and the punch displacements of Hardox 400 and Stainless AISI 304L depending on the plate thickness, plate length and mechanical properties. It is also possible to determine the change of the bending angle during forming. Experiments carried out by HPBTS were made with two different types of materials from which bending forces and displacement amounts were obtained depending on the dimensions and mechanical properties of the material. Force-time and force-displacement graphs were plotted simultaneously for both types of materials and mechanical behavior of the materials during the bending were examined in detail. Prior to the bending tests, tensile tests of the materials were carried out and the results were compared with the ones obtained from the manufacturers. The effect of the difference between these values on the bending parameters was investigated. Air bending technique was used during the experiments. Experiments were carried out with varying thickness, length, bending angle, bending velocity and channel opening values with the flat materials supplied from two different manufacturers. The effect of these parameters on the bending forces and displacement amounts were revealed. For both materials, the forces and displacements at the bending moment were determined depending on the supplier, bending speed, bending angle and bending length.
