Abstract:

Compressed air, needed in industry, is supplied by many types of compressors. Energy, used in these compressors is lost by heat transfer due to its low energy efficiencies. Enhancements in compressor efficiencies will reduce energy expensis in industry. In this study, a liquid piston compressor is designed and a dynamic model is built by MATLAB-Simulink. Pressure and temperature variations are calculated by dynamic model. Energy efficiency is evaluated for different compressing speeds and pressures. It is seen that designed liquid piston compressor is more efficient than conventional compressors.
