Abstract:

İsmail Hakki Baltacioğlu, who has an important place in our education history, from the main part of this study. We have searched answers for these questions: Who are the men İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu was influenced bv? Who did İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu read and who read him? What kind of world did he influence? What kind of world did he Express? Firt, his life and world view was examined. Then his approaches in education and the education system which he called “Social School” were explained –referring and mentioning to his most fundamental and prominent boks on education. His education views were compared to present education philosophies. We narrowed down our study only into his educator aspect amongst his versatile and multifaceted personality. Other aspects like theatre, politics, religion, arts, nationalism, etc. were only touched enough to be related with “education”. It was emphasized that at our present time “the education” –diversified as military education, secular education, religious education, ideological education, scientific education- should be “democratic”. “Re-consructionism” and “Democratic Education” were also discoursed. A student centric education means a school centric society.
