Using architectural dynamics of Kashgar as a creative tool in pre design phase

Kashgar, located in Xin Jiang Uygur Autonomous Region owns 2000 years old historical constructions and is one of the most important cities on the silk road. It is a city that reflects Uygur traditional life style. In this research, considering digital design directions, according to architectural pattern in Kashgar, the characters of them are examined and has been given a directional example for new futural works. Beside this, topografic and original construction properties of Kashgar, and the influence of these on the new construction of the city are examined. Special life habits of Uygurs, cultural and climatic characters, the main factors of forming residential housing, the plan typology of housing, the characters of typological housing, the process of formation, the logics of composed streets, and the factors of composed open spaces are analyzed. According to the results, and new design suggestion is given for urban renewal of the old Kashgar. In this suggestion, Rhinoceros and its plugin Grasshopper interface as one of the most useful modern design tools are applied and housing patterns and street compositions are examined. With the help of the data, forming new digital libraries, constructions which are similar to old Kashgar are obtained. In this process, the dynamics, belonged to old constructions are used during formation of the constructions in the design software. As a conclusion the new construction is discussed in coherence aspects.
