This qualitataive study aims to investigate factors that motivated companies to adopt a family constitution, and the consequences thereof. in line with the effort of understanding this phenomenon, the author carried out semi-structured interviews with 19 companies that adopted a family constitution in Bursa province. The study results suggest that companies adopted the family constitution practice for reasons such as intra-organization disputes, smooth generational transitions, organizational purposes, a desire to become more corporate, to clarify job descriptions. The results indicate that companies gained an increase in synergy, organizational faimess, organic growth, rationalized decisions and improved communications after adopting a constitution.
