In this research, detailed Soil Survey and Mapping study of the Karacabey-Arız and Doğla (Bursa) agricultural land soils have been made and their fertility have also been investigated. The detailed soil survey map have been produced by using Landsat-5 TM satellite data and geographic information system techniques and soil series have been distinquished with field works. The soils of Arız and Doğla agricultural land are formed on Neogene clay lime deposits. Six soil series have been recognized in the project area. Most of the soils are heavy texture and none of them has salinity and alkalinity problem. The cation exchange capacity varies from 19.62 me/100g to 42.14 me/100g in the surface horizons and Ca++ + Mg++ ions constitute big part of the CEC. The pH values are between 7.0 - 8.0 and the CaC03 contents generally increase with the depth and changes between 1.7 % and 32.1 % in the upper soil layers. The organic matter contents are generally low with values of 1 to 3.5 %. Taking in the consideration of surface soil depth, the available Phosphorus changes from 0.6 kg/da to 13.1 kg/da but this amount is not sufficient for most of the soils. In contrast, most of the soil series have sufficient level of Potassium. The considered soils have been classified as the orders of Inceptisols, Mollisols, Entisols, Vertisols and as the units of Haplic Calcisol, Eutric Leptosol, Eutric Vertisol, Calcic Vertisol and Calcaric Cambisol according to Soil Taxsonomy and FAO/Unesco Classification Systems respectively. In the survey area, the restriction factors of plant production according to the order of their importance are slope and shallowness of the soils.
