Abstract:Investment and development banks are very important in the development of a country because they play a leading role in financing investments. The aim of this study is to determine the performance of investment and development banks between 2013- 2018.Dataset consists of financial ratios of 13 investment and development banks operating in Turkey. CAMELS analysis method has been used to measure the performance of investment and development banks. The index score based on the CAMELS values has been calculated by taking into account the financial ratios of the commercial banks (25 ratios in total). Within the framework of the analysis, the performances of investment and development banks have been compared with commercial banks. Total performance value of investment and development banks was higher than that of commercial banks.Within the framework of the components of CAMELS analysis, while investment and development banks have a higher performance in the the capital adequacy (C) and management (M) components, commercial banks have a higher performance in asset quality (A), earnings (E), liquidity (L) and sensitivity (S) components. The most effective ratio for the performance of investment and development banks was the net profit per branch.
