The United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission since its establish has been one of the most important tools for achieving international peace and stability. In the 1950s the first examples of peacekeeping missions were seen and have been transformed in post Cold War era. After re-evaluated through humanitarian intervention and state sovereignty the peacekeeping missions are the most important instruments in ensuring international peace and security. This study will examine traditional UN peacekeeping missions within the framework of responsibility to protect norm. As case study Sudan will examine through responsibility to protect.
