Abstract:

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the relationship of marital attitude with interpersonal style and forgiveness among pre-service teachers. The relationship between the level of forgiveness and interpersonal styles of the participants was also examined. Besides, it was studied whether the marital attitude significantly differentiated in terms of some demographic and family variables. For this purpose, İnönü Marital Attitude Scale, Heartland Forgiveness Scale, Interpersonal Style Scale and Personal Information Form were administered to 611 (423 women and 188 men) pre-service teachers studying at a faculty of education in 2017-2018 university academic year. SPSS 23.0 Package Program was used for statistical analysis of the data.Results showed that marital attitude has a positive correlation with forgiveness and negative correlation with means of interpersonal style. Also, there was a negative correlation between forgiveness and means of interpersonal style. Marital attitude levels have been found significantly different by presence of a married sibling and department whereas it was not changed statistically by gender, place of residence and marital status of parents.
