In the second part of the 20th century, Albanian people get exposed to one-part communist rule for a half-century period, will be seriously deprived of their expression and religious freedom. In 1944, with the came into power ofAlbanian Labor Party under the leadership of Enver Hoxha, government put on a stand against religions and after de-termining atheism as official religious ideology of the country, all the kind of propaganda against used to get a violent attitude in order to destroy every kind of religious structure. As a result of this process many religious leaders where prisioned, exiled or killed under unknown circumastances. Hafiz Sabri Koçi is one of the leading figures in this period. He was imprisoned by the regime for the same reason and spent 20 years in prison. Hafiz Sabri, who was set free during the last years of communist regime, has been one of the foremost leaders in the restructuring of religious structures after the country officially passed on to the democratic system after 1990. Thus, Hafiz Sabri Koçi, known as the first Mufti of Albania after communism and disinguished for his intense struggle in this period, constitutes a model personality. This study aims to present Hafiz Sabri Koçi's mission as a religious leader and es-pecially his impacts in Albania's not only religious, but also social structure. Since it is directly related to the issue it was also given a historical and background of Albania's pre-communist, communist and post-communist periods history and history of religions.
