Abstract:

Within the rapid economic growth in the 1950s in Turkey, İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir cities have taken intensive migration, also with the population growth, it has been caused unlicensed construction and slum housing propagate rapidly. These city centers which have been turned into the debris field had started the activities of urban renewal by the years 1980-1990s. Central governments and local governments implemented several urban regeneration projects In Turkey and in the World and they are still continuing projects. The urban regeneration projects are often located on the agenda within the subject to discussions and some of them were award to be stopped and may be not to be continued and all these factors were needed to be analysed in this study. In an urban regeneration project its not only the subject of physical renewal of local people living in the area of renewal, it is also social-cultural and economic renewal and the added value. It should be provided within the good managerial dimension of partnership model and organizational structure, a good coordination between all the actors work in all the process of the project. This study discusses the partnership model and organizational structure in some of the urban regeneration projects in Europe and Turkey. The success factors tried to assess these projects' on roles of central and local government, participation of actors involved in the urban regeneration process, the partnership model and organizational structure how more effective/efficient to be.
